Marion County’s Ocala Florida has received a lot of notoriety lately as being a great central Florida retirement destination. Money Magazine even designated Ocala as one of the 100 Best Places to Live in 2006. Let’s take a closer look at this “best kept secret”.

Opposite Daytona Beach and just off Interstate 75, the city has a diverse population of just under 50,000 (2006). Compared to some of its more well known neighboring retirement destinations, Ocala offers the charm and value of an up and coming central state paradise for individuals looking to retire in Florida.

Ocala offers many Florida retirement communities for prospective empty nesters. Perhaps the most popular is SummerGlen, a well established resident-owned golf community in the region’s beautiful, acclaimed horse country.
