Here’s some data that will help you target locales in Florida that will increase your chances of meeting a millionaire. Kiplinger’s May issue of Personal Finance magazine presents a list of the top ten areas in the USA with the highest percentage of millionaire households. This list was compiled from a variety of sources to identify those households with a net worth of at least a million dollars, exclusive of their primary residence. Three of the top ten are in Florida. No other state had more than one!
For comparison, only eight percent of households nationwide are in the millionaire class. Of the above three areas, Vero Beach and surroundings offers significantly lower median home prices.
Okay, you’ve been dying to know what took the number one spot in this survey. Unbelievably, it was Los Alamos, New Mexico! One in five households there are in the millionaire category. It, of course, is the site of several government laboratories employing many highly paid scientists. That fact accounts for its high rank.
